I'm Jess,
Unemployed, but hopeful.
Recent life changes involve moving from Halifax to Newfoundland, though you can expect who I am to remain the same. Rock Steady. Now that's a bad joke because I've just graduated from Dalhousie with a Geology Degree, but don't hold it against me.
You'll notice that I have a tonne of sailing photographs. I worked on the Bluenose II, a schooner based out of Lunenburg Ns, for the previous two summers. That has come to an end with the move, but my love of the ocean certainly hasn't. Though I've had no formal training I love photography as an art form, it allows me to be creative and opinionated without ruining to many canvases.
Once upon a time I was an athlete. I stayed for my fifth year at Dalhousie to play that final year of volleyball. Couldn't help myself. I'm a very dedicated person, and if I was ever to be called dull it would be because of my inability to switch focus from the task at hand (which recently has been this website).
I think its terribly important to be active. And I mean that mentally as well. You'll learn I'm opinionated. You'll probably also learn that I love to hike.
Essentially I like rocks and pictures.

I'm an aspiring writer and a journalism intern at the St. John's Telegram.
Jess and I recently moved to Newfoundland, which is a coming home of sorts for me. My family is originally from Gander but my Dad's work has always kept us far away. As a result, I've grown up across Canada and have loved my experiences. However, whenever someone in the family talks of home, I know they mean Newfoundland.
Somehow, I've just gotten my second degree. I'm a recent graduate of King's in Halifax and have a shiny new journalism degree. I did my undergrad at the University of Western Ontario, majoring in English and French Literature.
A few quick facts about me: I'm fiercely bilingual, a consummate worker and a big believer in telling stories. These beliefs have given me a ferocious appetite for all things relating to art, music or politics. I'm a carnivore of Canadiana.
I've always gravitated towards politics and the world of public service. Journalism has been a natural fit for my personality and I hope to make a difference with the stories I tell.
Without my tie and collared shirt, I like to get outside and explore. I'm an avid hiker and a fanatic Montreal Canadiens fan.
Essentially I tell stories, with a little photography on the side.
